-
We are proud to be Global Organic Textile Standard Certified, Fair Trade Certified and B Corp Certified.
- Where are Discreture products made?
-
All Discreture garments are made in Kolkata, India in a Fair Trade Certified facility.
- What does B Corp certified mean?
-
Being B Corp certified ensures that our business model is held to the highest standard by keeping us accountable to “balance purpose and product” and to have us commit continually to reduce negative impacts on humanity and the planet. By partnering with these organizations, we are guaranteeing that our business practices are held to the highest standards of transparency of ethics and sustainability.
- What does GOTS certified organic mean?
-
The word “sustainable” is thrown around a lot these days, especially by brands who use "greenwashing" to market their products with no proof of truly sustainable practices. Discreture undies and bralettes are are certified by The Global Organic Textile Standard. Having this certification means our own warehouse as well as the farms and factories we work with are audited through the entire production cycle: starting with raw materials, all the way to garment washes and packaging. This results not only in a cleaner product for you, but also in reducing air pollution, toxic dye run off, and other long term harm to our ecosystem, as well as inhumane treatment of animals. (Follow the link above for more detailed information).
- What are the benefits of Organic Cotton?
-
Cotton is more breathable, durable and odor resistant than synthetic fibers, need I say more? Synthetic fabrics can cause irritation and lead to yeast infections and UTIs because they can trap heat and moisture. The skin on your vulva is as sensitive and delicate as the skin on your face and deserves the same level care. Listen to your mama, cotton is the best fabric to wear down there, and buying organic is a guarentee to your lady parts that no extra chemicals are going to interfere. Cotton that it's GOTS certified organic is grown, harvested, knit, sewn and washed without any persistent fertilizers or harmful toxic chemicals that are traceable on non-organic items.
- Is your packaging sustainable?
-
Not only is our product sustainable, but we use 100% organic cotton reusable wash bags instead of plastic poly bags to package your undies. And to ship, we use ØPACK, carbon neutral and extremely low impact envelopes made from limestone quarry waste and recycled resin, using only renewable solar power, no water, acid or bleaches. Even the offcuts are recycled back into more mailers.
- What does Fair Trade Certified mean?
-
The production of apparel when done conventionally, is incredibly harmful to the people who make it. The garment workers -predominately women– who are working in hazardous conditions, risk physical, verbal and sexual abuse, all for a wage that is below or just making minimum wage, which would rarely be enough to provide for themselves and a family. Everything Discreture has to offer proudly displays a Fair Trade Certified Seal. Fair Trade Certified products recognize the connectedness of consumers, producers and materials and aims to uplift and empower the livelihood of all three.
